The Nationwide Foundation is over the moon to have been awarded winner of the Grant-making and Funding category of The Charity Awards 2014. This prestigious award event identifies and rewards those organisations doing exceptional work though charitable activity.
This is the second award the Nationwide Foundation has won recently, having received the Business Charity Awards’ prize for best Corporate Foundation just last month. These accolades both commend the Nationwide Foundation as a truly outstanding charitable funder which not only makes a huge difference to the lives of the beneficiaries it helps, but also supports its funded charities to enhance their impact.
The Nationwide Foundation beat other finalist to win the Charity Awards by demonstrating the difference it made in its previous grantmaking strategy, Money Matters, Homes Matter, Families Matter. The stringent criteria required the Nationwide Foundation to evidence many aspects of its overall strategy including learning, innovation, planning and accountability.
The Money Matters, Homes Matter, Families Matter grant-making strategy (2009-2013) tackled financial exclusion and housing issues and the Nationwide Foundation supported nine charities with grants of around £300,000 each over three years and provided added value support to build organisational resilience. The Nationwide Foundation now focuses on creating decent affordable homes for people in need and continues to use its experience from previous work to be a leading funder.
