The Nationwide Foundation’s response to today’s publication of the Renters’ Reform White Paper.
Leigh Pearce, Chief Executive of the Nationwide Foundation, said, “Reform of private renting is much-needed and we’re pleased the White Paper has been brought forward. We’ll pay close attention to the detail to ensure that all private renters, including those on low incomes, will be able to benefit from the proposed renting reforms. To improve private renting for all tenants, more independent advice for renters, and more enforcement resources for councils and courts are needed alongside legislative reform. We welcome this government’s commitment to ending section 21 evictions and rebalancing tenancy rules so that they work for everyone.
The Nationwide Foundation is a member and the funder of the Renters’ Reform Coalition, which is a group of renters’ voice and support organisations that are working to improve life for private renters in England. The coalition’s policy principles are set out in a Blueprint for Private Renting Reform.
