Our strategy

Everyone in the UK deserves to have access to a decent home that they can afford.

Our Decent Affordable Homes strategy aims to improve the lives of people who are in housing need by increasing the availability of decent affordable homes. The strategy influences systemic changes to the housing system by supporting, testing and evidencing solutions.

The Decent Affordable Homes strategy is due to run until at least 2031.

Image shows a new urban housing estate in southern England - the sky is blue with some clouds, and in front of the red brick and white clad houses is vibrant green grass

Our vision

A young man who has down syndrome leaves a red brick housing with a black backpack, organge hoodie and trainers

The people we're trying to help

Image shows the roof of a house in a new build house development estate in england - the house is still in construction and the sun is setting behind the house

The housing we want to see

An open book is at the forefront of the image, with a hand in the background holding the book. It appears to be sat on a red table

The story of our strategy

Aerial photo of a typical British housing estate in the village of Middleton in Leeds West Yorkshire in the UK, showing a top down drone view of suburban streets, roads and rows of mostly red brick houses. The sky is blue and cloudy

What we're doing now

Little boy is in between his parents (a man and a woman) holding their hands as they walk along the garden path to get back to the house. They are smiling and laughing on the way back.
